Do you know what the word "Ikumen" means? It means "Dad who takes part in child-raising". In Japan, the word for child-raising is "Iku-ji(育児)". "Ikumen" is coined from "Iku-ji" and the English word "men".
Usually Japanese men are thought of as workaholics who don't spend time with their families.
The word "Ikumen" has recently been showing up in mass media and on the internet, as if those in the media think it's strange for a father to raise his own children.
In my personal opinion, Ikumen is not a special word. Helping with the child-rasing is one of a father's duty, and it is his responsibility to make time for his family.
Of course, I think I'm a typical Ikumen.
